		<description>In all fairness, the 17%-goes-to-research figure doesn&#039;t mean that the rest isn&#039;t going to good causes too. About 20% from what i understand goes to administration and the rest is spent on program expenses. However, much of these can be marketing presented as &quot;education and awareness.&quot; I think the point is that for a org that claims its mission is to find a cure for breast cancer, 17% for research is not a whole lot of money. 

A lot&#039;s happened in the past week: Komen said PP will remain &quot;eligible&quot; for future grants, though it&#039;s not clear whether they&#039;re using semantics to get out of actually approving funds for PP in the future. And Karen Handel, a senior exec who acknowledged she strongly supported the decision to defund, has resigned.</description>

		<description>Ditto! Great letter - I hadn&#039;t really looked into the Komen organization but I&#039;m not liking what you discovered.  Setting aside their recent ill conceived PR decisions, good charitable organizations do not take such a massive cut of the donations/proceeds. Sounds like it borders on fraud.</description>
